Brax the Cowboy

Ya know when people have so much pride for something they are said to bleed that color, for instance Brax's G-pa Terry bleeds blue for BYU...well I guess you could say Brax Bleeds mud and horse hair! This guy was born a cowboy! He has a passion for all things cowboy and my family is right there to egg him on. They make sure he's equipped with the clothes, bull riding magazines, the whole bit! Since they couldn't come to Braxton's first rodeo I told them I would post this. This is for all those who encourage Brax to be true to his cowboy self.

He has wanted to mutton bust (ride a sheep) for some time now and this year it was a Dream-Come-True, they drew his name out for the St. George Rodeo. This little cowboy was so excited he even used his Birthday money to buy a new cowboy shirt and belt buckle! So this is what 6 year old dreams are made of.

Here it is!!! The long awaited Mutton Bustin' video.

Brax scored an 88, the highest score of the night. And came away with only a few little scratches on the arm! Way to Go Brax. My sister was right, he's hooked (Next year he claims he's going one handed)!

Wishes

As you made a wish on Sunday, I made some too...

- I wish I could have recorded every minute of the past 6 years so that I could always go back.
- I wish you could know how you changed my entire life, in an amazingly great way!
- I wish that you could know how great I think you are.
- I wish you at least 80 more birthdays.
I have so many wishes and wants for you and I hope they all come true

Dad and I feel SO lucky to have you as our son and we are proud of the big brother you are to Bo and Hayes. Happy Birthday Brax.

Guilty Pleasures...What's Yours?

My guiltiest pleasures (I didn't realize I had so many and would have to narrow it down)are; sugar, magazines, Halloween, and TV!

Sitting on the couch watching the Hills, eating an orange cupcake from 25 Main, and looking at a Halloween magazine for ideas. What could be better than that? Maybe eating two cupcakes and not having them go straight to my butt!
Other guilty pleasures; eating a bowl of cereal EVERY night before bed, Dr. Pepper with crushed ice, long showers(I struggle conserving water), 20/20 mysteries(any TV show that sucks you in), and even though the sun makes you age and I'm pasty white, I do like a nice tan!

Just for you Jamie, since I'm a bad friend and never see you, I dedicate this to you! (and by the way...Sushi and Soaps?! you should feel guilty, that's sick. ha ha)

Who Knew...

that Kindergarten was going to be so tough?

Who knew that this boy who has always been big and acted old for his age, would be scared and want his Mommy?

That when Braxton stepped on that bus, We were going to have a hard time with this step in life.

Not me. And not Brax.

I masked my sadness and talked to him tons about the fun he would have and the friends he would meet. I reassured him the stomach ache he had was just him being nervous.

And then I waved to him as the bus pulled away. With tears welled up in my eyes I said goodbye...then I got into my car and drove to the school as I had promised. I was going to be there so that he knew where to go and he wasn't scared.

He came off the bus and wrapped his arms around me and wouldn't let go. He had cried the whole way...for me. I was shocked. I put a super-happy face on and walked with him to the playground, pried his fingers from me, and said goodbye...again.

It was heartbreaking!

And after 4 days of starting the school day with tears and me being at my whits end. I think Kindergarten is growing on us. I think we'll get through it. I hope soon.

I know, he looks like he's been in Kindergarten for a few years. (I love my big boys!)

Fair

I love the fair. I love the rides, the candied apples, and most of all I love the excitement in my boy's eyes when they see all of the things to do. I also love to see them and their cousins together. What could be more fun than cousins at the fair?

On the other hand I don't love everything about the fair! Like why do the creepiest people come out of the woodwork to attend the Fair (half of them being the workers)...and Walmart? Also who decided that it was a good idea to have the inmates in their green and white jumpers walking around freely at the fair? And my last beef with the fair - would it hurt to wash off the rides or maybe wipe the handles sometimes? I have a hard time fully enjoying my kids riding the rides knowing that soooo many dirty little hands have touched the same handle. (Sorry to everyone that thought I was nice and not uptight).
